A Bedtime Ritual for a More Peaceful Night’s Sleep | Saje Sleep Well Kit Review

saje natural wellness sleep well kit review

I’ve had trouble falling asleep for as long as I can remember, but it got much, much worse when I started university. Between the stress of trying to keep up with a full course load and a part-time job and having the freedom to stay up late and sleep in every day (so many Netflix marathons!), it didn’t take long for my sleep schedule to get really out of whack.

I’m a night owl and tend to be most productive between 11pm and 2am, so trying to regulate my sleep schedule means I have to force myself to go to bed when I have the most energy and my brain is buzzing with ideas and worries. Add PhD-related stress to the mix, and I probably haven’t had a full night’s sleep in about six years.

If something claims to help you fall asleep naturally and without side effects, I’m all over it. Except the whole turning off your phone and computer before bedtime thing. I’m not going there.

Enter the Saje Sleep Well Kit*. The kit comes in a little pouch that contains the Lavender Balancing Bath Salt Soak*, the Sleep Well Restful Sleep Remedy*, the Tranquility Relaxing Mist* and the Goodnight’s Rest Relaxing Eye Shade*. It’s everything you need to prepare your body and your mind for a good night’s sleep in times of stress.

SLEEP WELL RESTFUL SLEEP REMEDY*

The Saje Sleep Well Restful Sleep Remedy is a little roll-on bottle filled with soothing essential oils. The blend of lavender, jasmine, orange and chamomile oils is perfectly balanced to be calming, rather than overwhelming. I’m sensitive to strong scents, and I find that lavender oil by itself will give me headaches more often than not. I haven’t experienced any headaches while using this, and would say the scent of the Saje Sleep Remedy is just a tiny bit stronger than the ThisWorks Deep Sleep Stress Less roll-on.

The oils work together to ease the mind and the body into a state of relaxation that promotes sleep. The Sleep Well roll-on can be applied to the pulse points before bedtime, or anytime you feel like you need to ground yourself and relax. At just 6ml, this is the perfect travel companion for long-haul flights and long train journeys, but it can also be kept in a desk drawer or a handbag (have no fear…I haven’t experienced any leaks so far!).

TRANQUILITY RELAXING MIST*

The Saje Tranquility Relaxing Mist is a blend of lavender, ylang ylang and neroli essential oils that comes in a 30ml spray bottle. You can mist your face and body (with your eyes and mouth closed), or spray your pillows, sheets and duvet at bedtime. The mist is fine, so it won’t leave your clothes or your sheets damp.

I like spraying the mist over my pillows at night, but I found that the scent doesn’t linger for more than 10 or 15 minutes, which is definitely not long enough for someone who has trouble sleeping in general or is stressed to fall asleep.

THE SLEEP MASK*

The Saje sleep mask is my favourite addition to the Sleep Well Kit. It’s the most comfortable eye mask I’ve ever used, and I’ve used so many of them over the years.

It’s made with an adjustable velcro strap and super soft material, which means it doesn’t feel heavy or itchy where it touches your skin. The bottom part if padded, so it’s comfortable to wear all night and it also completely blocks out the light. What I love most about it though is that it’s packed with a subtle herbal blend of lavender and chamomile that will help you drift off when the scents of the Sleep Well oil and the Relaxing Mist fade.

(Full disclosure : I don’t have a bath, so I couldn’t test the Lavender Balancing Bath Salt Soak. I did open the packet to take photos though, and it smells much like the rest of the Saje Sleep Well Kit.)

TL:DR?

If you’re looking for something that’s going to put you to sleep instantly without the side effects of a sleeping pill, this is not it. I didn’t fall asleep any quicker than I normally would using this kit.

If you’re looking for a pleasant bedtime ritual to help get your stress levels (somewhat) under control and love the scent of lavender, I would absolutely recommend the Saje Sleep Well Kit.

I found I got a more peaceful sleep using the Saje Sleep Well Kit, and especially the roll-on. Having a bedtime ritual is key, and it helps me clear my head and focus on something that is not my to-do list for the next day or the state of my bank account or whether or not my research is useful and important.

If you haven’t been sleeping well for a while, it’s definitely worth a try.
