This past weekend, Toronto woke up to a delicate blanket of snow on the ground one day, and a real snowfall the next. There’s no doubt now – winter is here to stay.
I like the first few days of winter, when every fresh snowfall feels like a snow day and there’s no choice but to stay in or bundle up. It’s the season for layers, faux fur, and bobble hats. And this year, I’ve got a pair of Olang winter boots* that will keep my feet toasty warm even on the coldest days.

I survived many winters in Doc Martens and ankle boots, but one of the things I really wanted to check off my adulting list this year was to get a pair of proper winter boots that I would actually want to wear for years to come. Winter boots have come a long way since I was a teenager, and there are gorgeous options for every style and every budget nowadays, but I was waiting to find the ones.
I wanted a pair of boots that wouldn’t look out of place in the city, but would also see me through ski trips and weekends back home with my family. I was first introduced to Olang back in November, and I immediately fell in love with their sleek and practical Pomona boots.
STYLISH & COMFORTABLE
Olang boots are carefully crafted by Italian designers, and it shows in the details. They’re stylish, comfortable and made to last. It’s the perfect understated mid-calf black boot, and it looks great with dressy coats and parkas alike. It’s exactly what I was looking for.
The exterior is a beautiful mix of black leather, suede and shearling, with gold eyelets, and the interior is lined with wool to keep you dry and warm whether you’re going to brunch with friends in the city or walking through snow banks.
Wearing my Olang boots is like walking on a cloud. The sole is thick, with a good grip and a good bounce, and the interior is incredibly soft. They’re much more comfortable than my thin-soled ankle boots, plus I won’t be freezing my toes off anymore.
THE HIDDEN FEATURE
As well as being very pretty and comfortable, Olang boots are also extremely practical, thanks to a hidden feature in the sole. All adult snow boots have a built-in grip system that allows you to walk on snowy and icy surfaces without looking like Bambi on ice. Genius.
The red part of the sole flips over to reveal sixteen built-in stainless steel spikes. Whenever you come across an icy surface, you can simply swivel the cleats over, and flip them back into their original position when you get to your destination.
The boots come with an Olang key that makes it easy to flip the grip system on and off without getting your fingers dirty. Alternatively, the soles have recently been redesigned to include a dent that allows you to use your fingers.
Bring on the cold, the snow, and the slush – I’m ready!
