Mériance Collagène — the Results Are In!

Everyone deserves a little luxury, and my favourite way to treat myself is with a new skincare routine. There’s nothing like pretty jars and perfect skin to perk me up. I was sent a whole range of high-end collagen-based skincare products from the Quebec brand Mériance Collagène recently, and it could not have come at a better time. The change in seasons is always really harsh on my skin but paired with the fact that I’ve been travelling and that my office is essentially a freezer, my hydration levels have never been more in need of a boost. I also had a wrinkle scare earlier this month, and though it turned out to be nothing more than a particularly deep and stubborn pillow imprint, it got me thinking about the value of prevention. As I rubbed moisturizer into the crater and hoped that it would disappear, I swore that I would be better about taking care of my skin.

After putting Mériance Collagène skincare to the test for the past four weeks (even decanting the products to take them across the Atlantic with me!), I’m finally ready to share my thoughts on this anti-aging routine. Spoiler alert: it’s got it all — including real results!

Mériance Collagène Rejuvenating Serum

Serums are where Mériance Collagène truly shines. First up, we have the Rejuvenating Serum* ($139), the first step in the routine. It has a clear appearance, a gel-like consistency and a fragrance-free formula that applies a little tacky and dries down to a lovely smooth finish. The key is to use only a small amount, otherwise, it will stay a little sticky. I find that one pump is enough to cover both face and neck.

This is a product packed with hyaluronic acid and peptides, and it’s the perfect first step as it preps the skin for the products that will be layered on top. I use it day and night, followed by the Mériance Collagen Serum. Think of it as a fancier version of the Indeed Labs Hydraluron Serum. It comes in a beautiful white bottle topped with a silver dispenser. Bonus points for the hygienic packaging!

Mériance Collagène Collagen Serum

There are very, very few serums that don’t make my skin tingle in all the wrong ways, but the Mériance Collagen Serum* ($185) is one of them. It’s gentle, but it’s packed with benefits. Unlike most products that target mature skin, this serum is ultra-light and barely fragranced, making it safe for sensitive skins like mine. The milky white serum absorbs beautifully and smoothes out even the driest patches of skin in a matter of seconds.

A little collagen boost helps keep the skin plump, supple and glowy. Immediately after application, my skin is smooth and looks noticeably healthier, without being greasy. I’ve been using it twice a day, on my face and neck. On days where my complexion needs all the help it can get, I find that this is the Mériance Collagène product that makes an immediate, visible difference. It’s my secret weapon against late nights, salty meals and transitional weather.

Like the Rejuvenating Serum, the Collagen Serum comes in a chic white and silver bottle that dispenses just the right amount of product. For this serum, I found that I needed two pumps to cover both face and neck properly and it’s always better to be safe than sorry when it comes to the neck!

ABOUT COLLAGEN:  Mériance is all about collagen. Collagen is a protein naturally present in our bodies that is, amongst other things, responsible for our skin’s elasticity. As we age, we lose collagen, and well…you know the rest. Mériance formulates products that help build back up our skin’s collagen reserves. Mériance’s high-quality native collagen is extracted from fish skin. It closely resembles human collagen and is easily absorbed for better results.

Mériance Collagène Anti-Aging Collagen Cream

The Mériance Anti-Aging Collagen Cream* ($95) is thick. The kind of thick that suffocates my skin no matter how dry it is and has me reaching for the Repair Night Cream both day and night instead (though, to be fair, the Repair Night Cream is so excellent that I can’t help myself). But it’s also surprising. It has all the hallmarks of a product that targets much older skin than mine — the richness, the clean floral fragrance, the words ‘anti-aging’ right there in the name — but, unlike the thick creams I’ve tried before, it sinks right in. The heaviness disappears.

It’s still slightly too rich for my personal taste since I’m all about lotion-like moisturizers, but I found a use for it. It’s perfect to slather on the neck and chest. I apply it at night, and I save the wonderfully light and nourishing Repair Night Cream for my face.

Mériance Collagène Repair Night Cream

My favourite kind of moisturizer is a rare beast intensely hydrating, but also light and not even a little bit greasy. The Mériance Collagène Repair Night Cream* ($105) is exactly that. It’s not particularly rich, but it’s packed with collagen and antioxidants. It sinks in fast, hydrates deeply and is fragrance-free.

The Repair Night Cream is much lighter than the day cream, so I’ve been using it at night and during the day, under makeup. I love how smooth my skin is after layering it on top of the two serums. Mériance Collagène suggests using the Repair Night Cream on the face, neck, eye contour and eyelids, gently massaging the product into the skin for maximum absorption.

I loved it so much, I even tested the Repair Night Cream on my cracked hands. I’m happy to report that it passed the test, but I couldn’t bring myself to use it on both hands because, at $105 a pop, it’s not exactly the price of a bottle of hand cream. I now have one smooth hand and one very sore zombie hand. Oh, the things I do in the name of thorough reviewing!

Mériance Collagène Eye Contour Cream

A post about anti-aging skincare would not be complete without an eye cream, because that’s where most people see their first wrinkles. I have to admit, I often skip this step and sticking to it for over four weeks was quite the challenge.

The Mériance Eye Contour Cream* is housed in a pretty purple glass jar, so it stands out a little from the rest of the collection. I don’t find the packaging quite as chic, but after all, it’s what’s inside that counts! The scent is fresh and subtle, and the light cream absorbs easily to visibly plump up the skin under the eyes. I found that my concealer didn’t sit well on top, so I’ve been using it at night. Overall, a very good eye contour cream and a surprisingly generous amount of product (50 ml).

The Results Are In

After four weeks of using the complete Mériance Collagène skincare routine day and night, my skin is plump, healthy and hydrated. The stubborn dry patch on my cheek that had been hanging around since the summer has completely disappeared, and my extremely sensitive skin has not reacted to any of the products I’ve used. I’ll absolutely keep using the products. It’s very, very rare that I can use a high-end brand without fear of breaking out or developing a rash, so it’s an exciting time.

The one thing I’m not thrilled with is the price. Quality skincare is extremely expensive. This is a very expensive skincare routine, one that I personally could not afford if the brand had not generously sent it to me, but each product is effective, a delight to use and of the highest quality. Plus, they’re created and made in Quebec! If you’re going to splurge on cosmetic procedures, this is also the ideal line to help maintain the results longer.
