My first ever MAC product! Can you believe it? I can often be found swatching away in MAC, but half the time the prices have me running out of the doors before I buy anything. The rest of the time, it’s the condescending staff that has me running out of the doors, feeling ashamed that I dared venture in wearing little to no makeup and trainers. They really have perfected the art of humiliating their customers with a single look. Anyway, after months and months of swatching the Viva Glam Nicki lipstick every time I went in there, I decided to take the plunge and actually buy it
It was all over the Internet when it first came out and I really liked that it looked slightly different on everyone. It’s described on the MAC website as a ‘bright yellow pink’ lipstick with a satin finish. I thought it would be a soft coral pink once applied, but it’s actually very different from how it swatched on the back of my hand. I’ve been loving bright lips recently, so I was initially quite pleased to discover that it’s actually a neon coral pink when applied to my lips. It’s really bright, fresh and young. Sadly, I never seem to reach for it. It’s very bold, maybe a touch too bold for me. The formula is quite creamy, so it applies well and doesn’t feel too drying on the lips, but the colour is just…a lot.
I don’t regret treating myself to this, especially considering that every cent from my purchase supports the MAC AIDS Fund, but this is not going to be an everyday lipstick for me!
