L’Oréal Colour Riche Caresse Wet Shine Stain in Infinite Fuchsia (187)
I first saw the L’Oréal Colour Riche
Caresse Wet Shine Stain on Estée’s blog, and my ears perked up when I heard
that this was meant to be a dupe for the YSL Glossy Stains. YSL makeup is
expensive, so I figured I’d try this instead. After all, YSL is owned by l’Oréal.
When my local Shoppers Drug Mart received them, I immediately bought one – in
fact the display was still untouched when I bought mine (I love when that
happens)!
First of all, I love the sturdy, sleek
packaging, and the fact that they’ve included a little window that lets you see
what the shade you’re about to buy looks like. In theory, I also love the
applicator. It looks great, even better than the YSL applicator (that I’ve only
seen in pictures). Because of its shape, the l’Oréal applicator should work like a dream and be super precise. But it isn’t.
I find the application to be messy and worse, streaky. Very streaky. I thought I could solve this problem by
layering the product on. It did look better, but more than one application will
leave your lips sticky until the lip stain fades completely. Which means hours
of your hair sticking to your lips every time you move. No one likes that. If layered, the formula
doesn’t dry at all. The streakiness seems to fade with time, so I prefer
applying the product sparingly. It looks pretty bad for the first half hour,
but it eventually fades to a lovely, even colour.
I bought this stain in the shade
Infinite Fuchsia, and I was really disappointed with my choice at first. It’s
very dark upon application, a lot darker than it looks in the packaging, but it does
eventually fades to a more wearable dark plummy shade. I like that it’s not too glossy
either, despite the name. The lasting power is what I like the most about this
product – it looks great for at least five hours before it needs to be
reapplied, and it doesn’t transfer once it’s dry (again, if you want it to dry,
only apply one layer!).
Despite really hating
it at first, I actually quite like it now. It’s complicated to wear because the
application is so horrible, but once it’s actually on my lips I can go about my
business without worrying about the lip stain fading too quickly. I think I will pick up the shade Pink
Rebellion next, it’s a lighter colour, so I’m hoping the application won’t be
as messy!
