Models Own in ‘Fuzzy Peach’, ‘Peach Sherbet’ & ‘Lemon Meringue’
This post was inspired by my fruit bowl. It occurred to me that I had some ‘fruity’ nail polishes that could use some love now that the sun is shining, so I’ve been trying out a couple of different colours since I finished my exams. It’s never too early for summery nails, is it? Not all of them were a hit, but I picked out my top three fruit-inspired colours to show you what I’ve been loving on my nails recently. They would also happen to make a beautiful ombre manicure, so I may give the ombre nails a go when I get back from holiday!
I placed a massive order on the Models Own website a while back, and I haven’t even had a chance to use all the nail polishes I bought yet. I really didn’t like the Models Own formula when I first received my order – I thought they were gloopy, streaky and hard to apply. I’m starting to come around though, and I get quite a lot of use out of my Models Own polishes these days. I find that they need a good shake (or fifty) before use, unlike my Essie or Revlon polishes, but it’s not a deal-breaker for me. They actually last a good three days without a top coat, which is pretty impressive considering that I spend most of my time at work opening jewelry clasps with my nails.
‘Fuzzy Peach’ is halfway between orange and coral, and it’s a lot more neon on the nails than it is in the bottle in my opinion. It’s also a lot more neon than what I’m usually comfortable with. It’s probably as far from my beloved Essie’s ‘Sand Tropez’ as I’m ever going to get, and I almost feel like a different person when I wear it. Surprisingly, I love it – I love bright clothes, I love bright lips…but bright nails are usually just not my thing as I tend to think it looks a bit cheap.
‘Peach Sherbet’ is a really nice pastel peach, and it’s something that I can see myself wearing a lot over spring/summer. It’s a lot softer than ‘Fuzzy Peach’, and it’s just lovely to look at. The photos really don’t show how nice ‘Peach Sherbet’ really is.
I never thought I would say this about a yellow nail polish, but I’ve been loving ‘Lemon Meringue’ lately. It’s not too bright, which I think really is the key. It’s a nice pastel shade of yellow. If you like the idea of wearing yellow but don’t want to go too crazy, I think this is a nice option.
These three colours work together so well, I plan on experimenting with the ombre nails when I get a chance. They also work well together for accent nails. I love accent nails more than most, and I’m thinking ‘Peach Sherbet’, with a ‘Fuzzy Peach’ accent for next time!
