Is It Spring Yet? A peek inside the Avon Savannah Blooms Beauty Collection

Avon Savannah Blooms Beauty Collection review and swatches

The days are getting longer, there’s an awful lot of pink on the Zara website, and every week brings a fresh wave of spring-themed packages to my doorstep, but I went out wearing a thin jacket and my fave pair of sneakers yesterday and I can confirm that it’s still very much winter in Toronto.

My beloved leather jacket won’t see any action for a few more weeks, but I’m doing my best to warm up my makeup looks with the Avon Savannah Blooms Beauty Collection* ($35). It comes in the prettiest blue and yellow floral bag (which I forgot to photograph, of course), and it’s the perfect antidote to the slushy mess outside.

Inside the Avon Savannah Blooms Beauty Collection

The Eyeshadow Palette

At the heart of the collection, there’s the gorgeous Avon True Color Matte Eyeshadow Quad in the shade On The Vine. The simple black packaging houses a big mirror, a sponge applicator, and four matte shades Soft Nude, Merry Mint, Jade, and Smoked Teal. Soft Nude is quite chalky, but all the other shades are pigmented and blendable. Apologies for the lack of eye swatches, but my eyelids have been flaky and peeling recently, and I promise you no one wants to see that in HD.

I’m not a bold eyeshadow kind of girl, but the soft green looks that can be created with this palette are really fun. If you love mint green and want to inject some color into your makeup rotation, Merry Mint and Jade will make you very happy. Smoked Teal, a perfect dark-but-not-quite-black deep smoky green, adds definition and keeps the softer eyeshadows from looking flat.

The Mascara

With so many great waterproof mascaras readily available at the drugstore at the same price point, the Avon Wash-Off Waterproof Mascara fails to impress me. The brush is average at best, and there’s no lift, no length, and no volume, so it’s a definite pass from me. If you want to pick up the Avon Savannah Blooms Beauty Collection, do it for the soft green hues and the sparkle!

The Lip Gloss

Is lip gloss having a moment again? It’s everywhere these days, and the good news is that lip glosses are way less sticky than they used to be. The Avon True Color Glazewear Lip Gloss in Citrus Shine is quite pretty with its gold and flamingo pink glitter particles. It looks good worn alone if you’re going for that 90’s Spice Girls vibe, or it can be used to jazz up a pink lipstick.

The Nail Polish

Nothing says spring like a mint green high shine mani! The Avon Gel Finish 7-in-1 Nail Enamel in Clover offers a whole lot of color and seven benefits in one application, so you can spend more time strolling down the street coffee in hand once the sun starts shining again. I love that it includes a base and a top coat…because I’m lazy all year round.

Avon also kindly sent me the two shades that match the Savannah Blooms bag, Saphirred Up (a royal blue) and Limoncello (a bright yellow with a touch of glitter), so I’m all set for the new season.

TL;DR?

The On The Vine eyeshadow quad is definitely the star of the Avon Savannah Blooms Beauty Collection with its soft green eyeshadows, but there are surprising bits and pieces in there. I mean, I never thought I’d be testing lip gloss again! A rosy blush would have completed the collection nicely, but I’m thankful for that little bit of sunshine in my life while I wait out winter.
