3 Alba Botanica Sunscreens for the City & the Beach

Alba Botanica Sunscreen Best Review

Alba Botanica sunscreen: a city girl’s essential

It’s just a touch too warm for light jackets today, and I’m already cursing the air conditioning in my apartment because it won’t get cold enough for me to live under a nice, warm pile of blankets while I watch people die of heat in the street below. Oh, and I hate my entire summer wardrobe (or what survived my KonMari phase), and I’m staring longingly at my scarves and bobble hats every time I venture into my closet.

I’m not a summer person. I’m not a summer person, but that doesn’t stop the sun from shining. Oh, how I miss cold and rainy British summers.

We all know how important it is to wear sunscreen all year round, but I’m guilty of only ever thinking about it when I’m already in the process of burning. Or when I get a nice package full of Alba Botanica sunscreen bottles, along with a note that reminds me of the importance of wearing sunscreen in the mail.

It seems like everyone agrees on one thing: wearing sunscreen is non-optional in the summer, even if you’re a total city girl like me and haven’t seen a beach in years.

So here’s a reminder to pick up sunscreen before the sun is hot enough to burn you to a crisp, courtesy of Alba Botanica who kindly sent me everything I need to protect myself from harmful rays this summer.

I know I definitely would have forgotten.

Alba Botanica Sunscreen Face Review

Alba Botanica Facial Sunscreen Lotion SPF 40

The Alba Botanica Facial Sunscreen Lotion with SPF 40* ($9.99) has a thin texture that absorbs easily and disappears almost instantly, and a very subtle creamy scent. The texture isn’t greasy at all, but it does leave a shine behind. The slight sheen disappears completely under makeup, and I haven’t experienced pilling or smearing at all.

This Alba Botanica sunscreen is water resistant and formulated with Aloe Vera, Ginseng and Lavender to care for your skin while it protects it. It’s perfect for day to day wear, but strong enough for a full day outside in the sun.

Alba Botanica Sunscreen Sport Review

Alba Botanica Sport Continuous Spray Sunscreen SPF 50+

What sets the Alba Botanica Sport Continuous Spray Sunscreen with SPF 50+* ($16.99) apart from other sunscreens I’ve tried is that it comes out as a clear, fast-drying mist. Because it’s completely clear and thin in texture, it requires minimal rubbing and doesn’t leave a white cast on the skin. Because it’s fragrance-free, it won’t make you smell like a day at the beach, which makes it work-appropriate. If you walk to work in the summer, this is the sunscreen to add to your shopping list!

The Alba Botanica Sport sunscreen doesn’t feel greasy, tough it stays tacky for a few minutes after application. The sunscreen is free of parabens and not tested on animals, and it comes in an air-powered, eco-friendly spray. When it first comes out of the can, there’s a strong alcohol scent that reminds me of hand sanitizer, but it dissipates as quickly as it’s absorbed by the skin.

This Alba Botanica sunscreen formula contains ingredients that soothe the skin, like green tea, aloe leaf, algae, vitamin E and grapefruit water. It’s also water resistant, so you can enjoy outdoor summer activities while I’m over here under the umbrella sipping on my iced coffee.

Alba Botanica Sunscreen Kids Review

Alba Botanica Kids Continuous Spray Sunscreen SPF 50+

The Alba Botanica Kids Continuous Spray Sunscreen with SPF50+* ($16.99) contains the same ingredients as the Sport formula, but in a pretty purple packaging that’s going to look great in your handbag or in a beach bag, no matter how old you are.

TL;DR?

I love the clear, fast-drying mist of the spray options, and how well the facial sunscreen wears under makeup. The smell could be improved, but I love that it’s fragrance-free and can be worn to the office on hot sunny days. These sunscreens will take you from city streets to beach easily, and nourish your skin at the same time. Win!
